With the aim of promoting Scientific acumen and equipping the students with learning skills like critical thinking, communication, collaboration and creativity, a ‘Chemistry Working Model making’ competition was organized by the Chemistry department on March 21, 2022 for III BSc students in Chemistry laboratory. 78 Students from PCM and BZC streams participated in 8 teams and showcased their unique models like generating electricity from windmill, cow dung, mud, steam generator, wind wheel, Fire extinguisher and many more.
The students demonstrated the functioning of models in an impeccable manner and impressed the judges with their exemplary explanations. Through this activity students built confidence, developed critical thinking skills in them. This competition was a fun filled activity- based learning time for students. It expanded their ability to think and design their own easy way to use affordable scientific and chemical models.
Students’ models were judged and evaluated on the basis of functionality, usability stability and their presentation. The Best models were awarded with three prizes.
I Prize: Vikesh and team III PCM
II Prize: Vismaya and team III BZC
III Prize: Vishnu Prasad and team III BZC
All the students of III year PCM and BZC enthusiastically took part in this activity. Few have made environment friendly cost-effective models which had a real-life application.
