“There is an inextricable relationship between soil and man. But man is destroying the fertility of the soil through various activities. If this continues, we may have to face a dire situation where nothing can grow on land in another fifty years. Lack of food, lack of water can cause unimaginable ill effects. So, everyone should worry about saving soil. Due to the destruction of soil, the next generation has to face serious consequences. It is our duty and responsibility to preserve land with fertile soil which is necessary for our next generation to live comfortably without spoiling the land left to us by our ancestors” said Sri Praveen Kumar, Hatha Yoga teacher of Isha Foundation, Coimbatore. He was the resource person for ‘Save Soil’ awareness programme organized by NSS Units of Canara College, Mangaluru. This awareness programme was organised to increase awareness about deteriorating soil health and bring about a conscious response to improve it.
