NSS was formally launched on September 24, 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of Nation. Therefore, September 24, is celebrated every year as NSS Day with appropriate programmes and activities.
NSS Units of Canara College celebrated 53rd NSS Day on September 24, 2022. The college principal, Dr. Premalatha V., unfurled the NSS flag on the morning of September 24, 2022. The NSS Day Celebration and orientation programme were held in the evening. Dr. Sheshappa Amin, the NSS Nodal Officer for Dakshina Kannada, was the chief guest. He spoke on the significance of NSS, the social responsibilities of NSS Volunteers, the numerous outreach programmes and awareness campaigns to be organised by NSS Volunteers for the welfare of society, particularly in rural areas, and the various outreach programmes and awareness campaigns to be organised by NSS Volunteers.
Dr. Premalatha V., presided over the programme. In her remarks, she complimented the first-year NSS volunteers on selecting NSS as their extracurricular activity and advised them to make the most of the NSS chances for their overall development.
The NSS volunteers who represented the Mangalore University in various National and International Camps were honoured during the programme.
Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. and Mrs. Vani U.S., the NSS Programme Officers coordinated the programme. A total of 110 NSS Volunteers and 45 staff members enthusiastically took part in this joyful celebration.
