Women’s Empowerment Cell organized a program entitled “Women’s Rights”, a Seminar by Ms.Nelvita Assistant Professor, SDM Law College, Mangalore on June 22, 2023, held at Room No 10.
The program started with prayer and Ms Shwetha Priya welcomed the Resource person, Staff Convenors and students gathered for the program.
Ms. Nelvita Norhona had spoken about women’s right to live free from violence and discrimination. She mentioned in her talk that many women and girls still face discrimination based on sex and gender.
She emphasized more about the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act is legislation protecting women in India from all forms of domestic violence of any kind physical, sexual, mental, verbal or emotional. She mentioned that many criminal law amendments were made to ensure stringent punishments for the offenders committing crimes against women and also other legislations safeguarding women’s rights. And also, she added women’s rights are violated by legal regulations and they must be protected by women themselves. She cited various laws that are enacted in favor of women and asked the women to utilize and protect them.
Altogether 29 students attended this program. The program concluded with a few student’s feedback and a vote of thanks by Mrs. Rajyalaxmi C H.
