To make chemistry more inviting and show its creative side, the Chemistry Department arranged a ‘Chem Design’ activity for second-year BSc students. They formed four teams of 14 chemistry students, tasking them with creating art using chemical structures, equipment, models, or compounds in imaginative ways within a week.
This initiative aimed to blend scientific accuracy with artistic expression, encouraging everyone to see how chemistry and art can intersect. Students collaborated in groups, brainstorming to craft artistic images filled with chemistry concepts. They submitted their ‘Chem Design’ activity chart on November 10, 2023.
By exploring chemistry through art, students tapped into innovative ways to visualize and interpret scientific ideas. This creative approach might even spark fresh scientific methods or techniques.
