The ‘Srujana – 2024’ event was held on March 14, 2024, at Canara College, Mangalore. It is a unique One day Inter Collegiate Cultural competition organized by NSS Units of our college exclusively to the NSS Volunteers, fully funded by our Management, CHS Association. The program was inaugurated by Shri Satish Naiga Kodman Kodi, President of Meramajalu Grama Panchayat, by hoisting the NSS flag. A total of 450 volunteers from 25 colleges participated in the competition.
Shri Ranjan Bellarpadi, Coordinator of Shri Ramakrishna Mission – Swachh Mangalore Abhiyan, was the Chief Guest. He opined that communication and creativity are the two essential elements of public life, and NSS annual camps encourage these skills in the volunteers. He also recalled his college life as an NSS volunteer and how the National Service Scheme helped him build communication skills through annual camps. He asserted that service is a beautiful concept; the more selfless service one contributes the more happiness one receives in return. NSS helps students to draft plans and inculcate innovative ideas. This provides a new dimension to their lives and contributes to career building.
Shri M Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary, CHS association, in his presidential address said, divine knowledge purifies, fosters creativity, and ultimately leads to happiness. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of the college, commended the selfless contributions of the founder of Canara institutions. The NSS program Officer, Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., presented the overview of Srujana 2024. Staff Welfare Secretary, Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J, extended a warm welcome, while NSS Programme Officer Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat proposed the vote of thanks.
Shri CA M Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, Canara College, Shri K Shivananda Shenoy, Manager, Canara College, Ashwini Kamath, Governing Council Member, CHS, Mr. Gururaj Shet, President, Alumni Association, Mr. Shubham Kulal, Assistant NSS Programme Officer of the college, were present at the event.
The valedictory of Srujana-2024 took place in the evening of the same day. The guest of Honour Dr. Nagarathna K.A., NSS Coordinator of Mangalore University, acknowledged the dedicated efforts of NSS program officers of the College. She commended the tremendous efforts of the NSS programs, ranging from the Polio drops campaign to graveyard cleaning, showing a commitment towards positive social transformation.
In his presidential address, Canara College Correspondent Shri CA M Jagannath Kamath congratulated the dedicated efforts of NSS volunteers from Canara College during the annual camp in adopted village Kodman and Meramajalu Grampanchayath.
Staff Welfare Secretary, Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., welcomed the gathering, and Mrs. Seema Prabhu S. proposed the vote of thanks. Shri K. Shivananda Shenoy, Manager, Canara College, Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, the NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Shubham Kulal, NSS Assistant Programme Officer of the college, were present at the event.
Various competitions like Street Play, Wealth out of waste, Face Painting, Poster Writing, Variety Competition, Group Singing, Documentary and All Rounder were held. The Overall Championship was secured by Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, while SDM College of Management, Mangaluru, secured the Runners-up award.
