“Avishkar-2024”-Annual Day competitions

“On the eve of the annual day celebration in 2024, a Mehendi competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association on February 26, 2024. Irrespective of their exposure and experience, students adorned their hands with beautiful designs, which helped boost their confidence in the art. This activity mainly aimed to provide a platform for students to exhibit their talent and creativity. 29 students from different programs enthusiastically participated in this competition.

Mrs. Smita Kamath, Beautician and Nishwitha D Suvarna, Freelance Mehendi Artist were the judges. This event was judged based on criteria such as design, neatness, and creativity. Priyanka of III Bcom A, Shrinidhi of I BCA B and M. Varsha of III Bcom C respectively, for their best art. The active participation of all the participants was well appreciated by the judges. Mrs.Vani U.S, Convenor of the association and Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Mrs. Keerthi, Mrs.Shruthi G, Mrs.Soujanya,and Mrs. Rakshitha, Co-convenors coordinated this activity.

Face painting is in fact a unique art form and the makeup artists who use faces as their canvas. On the eve of annual day celebration 2024 Face painting competition was organised by the Fine arts association on February 27, 2024. The theme is given for the competition is Nature. Irrespective of the exposure and experience, students adorned the face with beautiful designs which helped them to boost their confidence in the art. This activity mainly aimed to provide a platform to students to exhibit their talent and creativity. 06 students from different programs enthusiastically participated in this competition.

Mr. Rakshith Bajal, Art teacher& Freelance and Ms. Sahana Acharya, Graphic Designer were the judges. This event was judged based on the criterias such as Design, Neatness and Creativity. Adith Rai from III B.Com B ,Asmitha K from III B.Com B, Disha N. Amin from I BCA B were awarded first, second and third prize respectively for their best art which captured the eyes of judges. The active participation of all the participants was well appreciated by the judges. To promote innovation and creativity among students, the Fine Arts Association organized a Cooking Without Fire Competition at Canara College premises on February 29th, 2024. There were Thirty-Nine teams, each consisting of two members from all streams participated in the competition and presented a variety of delicious dishes and creative presentations.

The competition was judged by Mrs. Divya Kamath, a physiotherapist, and proprietor of Aruna Caterers in Mangalore, and Mrs. Vandana Kamath, Proprietor of Aruna Kamath in Mangalore. The event was evaluated based on criteria such as Taste of Food, Presentation and Creativity.

Ms. Asmitha K. and Ms. Yashwitha Shetty from III BCom B won the first place, Ms. Sameeksha and Ms. Tharanath Payal from III BCom B won the second place, and Ms. Seema Kawar and Ms. Navami Nayak from I BCom B won the third place in this event. All the participants were appreciated by the judges for their wonderful dishes. Rangoli is a traditional Indian art form where intricate and colourful patterns are created on the ground and floor. Traditionally Rangoli designs are made during auspicious occasions, also to express views on social issues and as public art. On the eve of the Annual Day Celebration Rangoli competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association on February 28, 2024, at the college premise. Two participants made a team, and 26 teams, totally 52participants participated in the competition. The rules were informed to the students. According to the rules, only dot rangoli using colour powder was allowed. Each team decided on its theme for the rangoli making.

The judges of this competition were Mrs. Chanchalakshi, Assistance Professor, Department of Business Administration, Besant Women’s College and Mrs. Gayathri, Montessori Teacher, Bharathi Academy School. The criteria for the judgment were design, neatness, design and creativity. Ms. Shraddha and Ms. Anusha Prabhui I MCA won First place. Mr. C. Suraj Bhat and Mr. R. Rohit from I MCA won second place, Ms. Apeksha and Ms. Prajna from I BCA C won third place in this competition. The interest of all the participants was well appreciated by the judges. Drawing is a form of visual art in which an artist uses instruments to mark paper or another two- dimensional surface. To enhance the drawing skills of our students, a drawing competition on the topic “Chandrayan-3” was organized by the Fine Arts Association on March 01, 2024. Students actively participated in this competition. A total of 24 students took part in this competition.

Mrs. Nishvitha D Suvarna, Mr.Rakshith Bajal were the judges. Nisarg III BCOM B won first prize, Yathin Acharya II BCA C won second prize and Yuthika J Karkera I B.Sc won third prize.

Reel making involves compiling a collection of video clips or segments into a cohesive and visually appealing presentation. On the eve of the Annual Day Celebration Reel making competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association from March 11,2024 – March 15, 2024 at the college premise. Two participants made a team, and 4 teams totally 8 participants participated in the competition. The rules were informed to the students. According to the rules, reels should cover all flagship events from Canfest to Variety Competition.

The judge of this competition is Mr. Sushanth Video Editor, Creative Hunt Studio. The criteria for the judgment were creativity, technical skill, content and music. Mr Ashwin Acharya and Mr. Bhushan III B.Com. C won First place. Mr. Sumeeth and MrSharan Kulal from II B.Com. C won second place, Mr. Prapthik Kajava and Mr. Kishan Gatti from III B.Com. B. won third place in this competition. The interest of all the participants was well appreciated by the judges. The competition resulted in overall recreation after a hectic and monotonous college routine work. “On the eve of the annual day celebration in 2024, short- film competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association and the date of submission was March 09, 2024. It is a platform for students to show their talent. K Pavan Baliga and Team (III Bcom A) secured First Place and Sandeep B & Team (I MCA) secured Second Place, Yashwith K and Team (I BBA). The event was judged based on Acting Skills, Dialogue & Overall Performance. Mr Sushanth, Video Editor, Creative Hunt Studio and Mr. Sujith, Photographer were the judges. The active participation of all the participants was well appreciated by the judges. Total 28 students participated in this competition. . Mrs.Vani U.S, Convenor of the association and Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Mrs. Keerthi, Mrs.Shruthi G, Mrs.Soujanya,and Mrs. Rakshitha, Co-convenors coordinated this activity.

“Music binds our soul, heart and emotions. It cheers the spirit and lightens the heart.” To bring out the singing talents of students music day was held on April 13, 2023 at College premise. The competition consists of five categories which includes Bhava-Geetha solo, Folk song group, Eastern duet and solo, and Western solo. All sang the songs with confidence and passion. The competitors gave out the variety of songs. They came up with such melodious voices which attracted the audiences.

The competition was judged by the very talented musicians Mrs. Harshitha Bhat and Mrs. Jasmin

D’souza. Total of 93 students were participated in the competition. All the participants were well appreciated by the judges. In bhavageetha competition, Shravya Bhaktha(III BCom A), Vaishali(II BCA A) ,Dattashree(III BCom B) won I ,II,III place respectively. In eastern solo competition, Rahul (II BCA C), Shreya M.S. (III BCA), Akash C.S.(IIBBA) won I, II, III place respectively. In eastern duet competition, Shreya M.S.& Deepak (III BCA), Nisha & Yashwitha (II BCA B), Shravya Bhaktha & Brugu A.P. (III BCOM A) won I, II, III place respectively. In western solo competition, Shreya M.S. (III BCA), Rahul (II BCA C), Vaishali(II BCA A) won I, II, III place respectively. In western group competition, Shreya M.S. & Team (III BCA), Harsh & Team. (I BCA B), Yashwitha & Team (II BCA B) won I, II, III place respectively. In folk song group competition, Prathisha B. Rai & Team (II BCA B), Shravya Bhaktha & Team. (III BCom A), Bhargavi & Team (I BSC) won I, II, III place respectively.The occasion was graced by the esteemed presence of our Principal, Teaching and Non- teaching staff and the students. Flowers are a gift of nature. To display the beauty of this nature’s gift, a flower garland competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association on March 16, 2024 . This activity aimed to provide a platform for the students to exhibit their talents and creativity. 05 students from different programs enthusiastically participated in this competition.

Mrs. Sujatha Suvarna and Mrs. Sunitha Mahesh were the judges. This event was judged based on the criteria of Creativity, Colour Combination & overall visual impact. Ms. Nisha from II BCA- B won first prize and Ms. Vimarsha from III B.Com B won second prize and Vaishnavi from III B.Com A won third prize in the competition for their best garland making which captured the eyes of judges. Mrs.Vani U.S, Convenor of the association and Mrs.Shruthi G, Mrs. Keerthi, Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Mrs.Soujanya and Mrs. Rakshitha Co-convenors coordinated this activity.

As a part of annual day celebrations, students are motivated and encouraged to showcase their talents in the platform specially provided for them. On 15th March variety competition was held. Judges to judge this events were invited. 41 students actively participated in this competition. The theme for the competition was “Incredible India”. Vidushi Sumangala Rathnakar and Shri. Gopalakrishna Shetty.

Were the judges for this competition. Sambhrama & Team 1st Place, Soundarya &Team 2nd Place, Dhani & Team and Rashmitha & Team shared 3rd Place. The Best Master of ceremony was won by Ms. Sonali Nayak (II BSC). The participants were appreciated by the judges for their creativity and talent. “On the eve of the annual day celebration in 2024, Traditional walk competition was organized by the Fine Arts Association on March 15, 2024, and one of the most highly anticipated events is the search for Traditional King and Traditional Queen of Canara College 2024. This event brings together the most charming and talented students, who will showcase their personality, and skills in a series of competitions. The search for Traditional King and Traditional Queen 2024 is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their leadership abilities, creative talents, and social awareness.

It is a celebration of the diversity and excellence of the students. It promises to be an exciting event filled with energy, glamour, and fun. Students, faculty and guests are all invited to witness this grand event, and to support the students. Vidushi Sumangala Rathnakar and Mrs. Priyanka Bekal Were the judges for this competition.25 students participated in the event. Ms.Shravya Bhaktha (III BCOM A) and Mr. Thushar (III BCOM B) were the Traditional Queen and Traditional King of Canara College 2024.
