The Department of Business Administration, in association with Lions and Leo Club, Kadri Hills, Mangaluru, organized a “Capacity Building Workshop on Leadership Skills” on September 27, 2024. This workshop for first year BBA students aimed to enhance students’ leadership potential and prepare them for managerial roles. The workshop provided theoretical insights, practical exercises, and opportunities for self-assessment, fostering critical leadership qualities needed in today’s competitive environment. The resource person was Mrs. Rajeshwari Shetty, Career Counsellor, Proprietor Disha – Career Towards Excellence, Mangaluru.
The workshop was conducted using a variety of methods, including group discussions, role plays, case studies, and interactive sessions. The trainer used a participatory approach to ensure that all participants were actively engaged in the learning process. The workshop covered a wide range of topics related to leadership skills. These included leadership theories, communication skills, empathy, problem-solving, decision-making, and team building. The trainer also emphasized the importance of self-awareness and self-reflection as key components of effective leadership. The workshop was highly effective in developing the leadership skills of the participants. By the end of the program, the participants demonstrated a good understanding of the key leadership concepts and were able to apply them in practical situations. They were able to work effectively in teams and demonstrated strong leadership qualities.
A total of 32 students were trained in this programme. The participants provided very positive feedback on the training program. They appreciated the participatory approach used by the trainer. Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Head, Department of Business Administration, Lion Prashanth Pai, President of Lions Club, Kadri Hills, Mangaluru, and Mrs. Sumithra Shetty, Leo Advisor, District 317D, organized this workshop.2. This workshop served to achieve the core values of contribution to national development, inculcating a value system amongst the students, and quest for excellence.
