As an endeavor to promote personal and professional excellence among the staff and to enhance the teaching skills and competencies of faculty members, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of the College organized a Faculty Development Programme on March 7, 2025 – on “Reflective Teaching: Enhancing Student Outcomes” at Smt. Ratna S. Shenoy Memorial Seminar Hall.
The event began with a welcome address by Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator. Sri Venugopal S. J., an eminent Behavioral Training Facilitator, was the resource person and inaugurator of the programme. He emphasized the importance of “humanness” in education despite rapid technological advancements. In his address, Sri Venugopal S. J. expressed his appreciation for the sense of inclusiveness and belonging within the campus, noting the visible presence of humanness. However, he emphasized the need for improvement when it comes to the younger generation, stating that the biggest challenge they face is a decline in human values. He pointed out that with the rise of technology, humanness is being overshadowed and stressed the importance of nurturing their ability to connect with others and build meaningful relationships. He concluded by highlighting the need for education to address this growing gap.
Principal Dr. Premalatha V. highlighted the need for self-reflection in teaching, stating, “Teachers must continuously analyze their methods and strategies to enhance student learning.”
CA. M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent of Canara College, stressed the importance of staying updated, remarking, “FDPs are crucial because knowledge is constantly evolving.”
The event witnessed active participation from faculty members, who engaged in insightful discussions and activities designed to promote reflective teaching.
