The inauguration of the Finishing School Programme (Industry Orientation and Skill Enhancement training for B.Com and B.B.M. Students) was held on 29th July 2015. This programme is an initiative taken by Department of Commerce, to implement and develop the soft skills of the students and to prepare them for the corporate world.
CA. Vaman Kamath, Alternate Treasurer, CHS Association was the key note speaker, who spoke of the evolution in the field of education from his time to the present. He mentioned that the commerce bachelor degree was originally given high importance and now due to the specializations in every field it is just a landing station not a destination. He said, though the educated youth are available in more numbers in the district, all may not be employable. There are some important skills which makes one employable is found to be lacking in the present day graduates in the district. Hence, this exercise of Finishing School Programme becomes very important for those who want to get the cream of the jobs which are on offer in the market.
Dr.Malini K.V., Principal of the college, presided over the function. Prof. Seema Prabhu S., Coordinator of the Finishing School Programme, gave a brief introduction about the course and welcomed the gathering. Ms. Raksha Acharya, Lecturer, Department of Commerce, gave the vote of thanks. The programme was compeered by Ms. Namartha Pai of III B.Com.
The finishing school programme is exclusively for the final year students and provides training to the students in various areas like, Office Management, documents and Registers, Books and Vouchers, Books of Accounts (Computerized), Office Etiquettes, Communication ,Interaction and Presentation, Business correspondence, Practical Banking, Conducting Meetings , Legal obligations and compliance under Income Tax, e-filing, e-banking , D Mat A/C, C.V writing, Interview, GD, Grooming etc.
