Department of Hindi and Hindi Association, in collaboration with Literary Association and IQAC of the college jointly organized Hindi Day celebrations at College Seminar Hall on September 14, 2017. Dr Ramprasad Nayak chief guest of the function, inaugurated the programme and said, “Hindi is the native language of a majority of people across the globe. On September 14, 1949, Hindi was adopted as the official language of India. Hindi has become the language of unity in post independent India.”
He threw light on relationship between Hindi and Sanskrit language and he remembered literary contributions of Tulasidas, Surdas, Kabir and other Hindi scholars to the development of the language. Noting that Hindi is the fourth most widely spoken language in the world, Mr. Nayak said it was not only a link between Indians living in different parts of the country and the world, but it was also widely used as a language of unity by Mahatma Gandhi to motivate the common people in the country to rise as one against the colonial might of the British empire.
College Principal, Dr. K. V Malini delivered the presidential address and stressed the importance of the language. Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J, Head of department of Hindi, Prof. Thara Kumari, convener of the Literary Association, Prof. Sujata G., convener of Hindi Association, IQAC coordinators Prof. Shanthi Roche and Prof. Premalatha were present at the programme.
