Department of English, Canara College, Mangalore, in association with English Association conducted a one day workshop on soft skills– Envision 2019, at college seminar hall on August 28, 2019. Santhosh Rebello, Professor and Dean, School of Information and Bio informatics, AIMIT, Mangaluru, who had arrived as resource person, inaugurated the one day workshop. In his inaugural address he said, “Industries like transportation, manufacturing, packing and shipping, finance and health care will be taken away by machines. Technology replaces manual work and creates new opportunities. Youngsters should change their mindset and they should grab opportunities that come on their way.”
Dr. Malini K V presided over the inaugural function and in her presidential remarks she said, “Students should realize the need of the hour. Whether you are seeking employment or a promotion, the specific knowledge and abilities required for a particular job are required achieve success on the carrier. It is necessary to students to highlight the most important soft skills that they possess to show why they are the best candidates for the job.”
In his day long workshop he shed light upon various soft skills like communication skills, how to write resume, do’s and don’ts s of group discussion, interview skills and basics of aptitude test to the final year students. Head of the Department Dr. Bhuvana Ramachandran, English Association Convener Mrs. Rithika Das and Mr. Pramod Kumar were present at the inaugural session.
